Accounting Services For Businesses and Non-profit Organizations
Today, there are all kinds of individual and business software designed to do bookkeeping and taxes. But if you don’t really know basic accounting or the nuances of the tax law, how can you be sure that you’ve done everything correctly? Or haven’t missed a valuable deduction? Why wait for a letter from the IRS to find out you made a mistake.
All of the services that I provide are tailored to your business’ needs and will help you to save time and improve efficiency, reduce your worry and stress, and correct any misuse of your valuable time so that you can be doing what you do best – providing exceptional service to your customers; attracting new ones; and improving your bottom line.
Full Charge Bookkeeping
Full charge bookkeeping services involve recording and paying vendor bills, preparing invoices for your customers and monitoring accounts receivable, maintaining the chart of accounts and entering journal entries as necessary, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, processing payroll and preparing payroll and sales tax returns, and generating basic financial reports.
Advanced Accounting
Advanced accounting services include preparing GAAP financial statements for external users such as banks or a board of directors, creating specialized job-cost or sales reports, accounting for fixed assets and depreciation, assisting with annual or periodic audits (such as an IRS or state sales tax audit), establishing accounting controls, and preparing budgets.
Tax Return Preparation
Preparing your tax return involves reviewing your financial data for the year and completing the appropriate form for your entity type: Schedule C for sole proprietors, Form 1065 for partnerships or LLCs being taxed as a partnership, Form 1120 for C corporations, Form 1120S for S corporations, and Form 990 for non-profit organizations. I offer professional preparation of all federal and state tax returns.
If you haven’t kept your bookkeeping up to date or you’re not sure if you’ve been consistent with your expense categorization, I can enter all of the necessary data, organize it in an easy to understand format and then prepare the tax return.
Controller and Consulting
If your business is in need of an accounting manager or controller but you don’t have the financial resources to hire one full time, I can provide oversight of your existing accounting staff and prepare various financial statements or reports to provide you with the information you need. Controller services include reviewing the work of your existing accounting staff for completeness and accuracy and preparing GAAP financial statements; developing accounting systems, policies and internal controls and seeing that they are implemented; providing profitability analysis by service or product line; assistance in obtaining financing from banks; and, review/negotiation of insurance policies.
As an accounting consultant, I can assist with business expansion, combinations or separations; analyze current accounting operations and recommend improvements; or, develop your company’s accounting procedures manual.
Accounting System Set-up
If you have a brand new business and are unsure of which accounting system to use or how to set it up, I can install your accounting software for you, advise you on the different accounting methods and then create the accounts you’ll need, transfer current balances to the new accounts, create your customer, vendor and employee files and establish report templates to help you retrieve your data quickly and accurately.
Training and Troubleshooting for QuickBooks
I’ve worked with QuickBooks software for more than 20 years and I am a member of the QuickBooks Advanced Certified ProAdvisor program. I can provide training on all QuickBooks modules and for all user experience levels. In addition, I can assist you with resolving problems such as reconciliation discrepancies and out of balance situations.
